    Congratulations! We have Licensure!!

This is a great day for dietitians in the state of Nevada. With the focus on preventative care and increase in reimbursement for nutrition counseling as well as defining scope of practice for dietitians this bill identifies dietitians as those that have the "skill, expertise and knowledge" to do the job. This is awesome! Thanks to everyone for their support and efforts to let our legislators know what this bill was about and why it was important! Governor Sandoval signed our bill into law and it is official.

The Licensure Committee is working on details of the regulations for implementing the bill with a goal of January 1, 2012. Stay tuned for more details as well as informational meetings in Las Vegas and Reno.

  • Health Care Reform
  • The health care reform law signed by President Obama on March 23, 2010, provides many opportunities for dietitians to be included in programs and demonstration projects scheduled for implementation in the states over the next three years and beyond.

Your NDA board, and specifically your state regulatory specialist (Deborah Klein) and state policy representative (Pam Wagner), will make every effort to keep you informed on this important topic.

For information about programs included in Health Care Reform listed by the year of implementation please go to the following link on The Academy website. http://www.eatright.org/healthcarereform

This section was created to provide The Academy members with information regarding a particular interest or area of practice. The programs are listed by the year of implementation.

After reviewing the information, contact your affiliate State Regulatory Specialist or State Policy Representative to coordinate your affiliate's efforts on the issue.

Make a difference for dietitians in your state! Make a difference for public health in your state!

We did it! White House petition reaches 25,000 signatures

Members of the Academy responded across the US to reach the required number of signatures for the White House petition asking the President to urge the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to reconsider its decision to excluded dietitians as billable providers for intensive behavioral therapy for obesity. Thank you for promoting this effort within your membership. We could not have achieved our goal without your support

Watch for further updates on the Academy's efforts to address this situation.
